Plane ticket to Taiwan, I’m going to Taiwan! February 11, 2010

I booked 2 plane ticket to Taiwan on Monday, 1 Feb 2010.
Flight from Malaysia-Taiwan: LCCT Sat 29 May 2010 0950 hours
Flight from Taiwan-Malaysia: Taoyuan International Airport Sun 06 Jun 2010 1540 hours

It’s going to be a 9 days trip…WOohooo!

I am not a vacation person, I am lazy to pack and unpack my bags, feel bored to be sitting in a bus for long hours, and am not comfortable sitting in a plane, I studied Aerospace and it’s not really that safe sitting in a plane, y’know?

So there is a special reason why I am finally dragging my ass out of Malaysia. My plan is to buy second hand musical instruments from Taiwan, because I found some guy who sells second hand music instruments from a Taiwan Auction Website. I am hoping to go there and visit him, to try out a few instruments and to make some purchases. I plan to get a Bass Clarinet, a Baby Clarinet and an Oboe perhaps. I am hoping I can get all three under a budget of RM4500 or less… RM4000 perhaps? Hehe.

I have read some of the forum posts and Taiwan is a good place to self explore, and since I will be there for 9 days, I will have to keep my budget and travel light and stay cheaply.

Can’t wait!

Aircon Service and Car Battery January 27, 2010

Last Sunday I went to Cheras for band practice, after that had lunch with my friends and we hung out at my place. At 3pm I drove my friends to her orchestra practise. I saw the car workshop just downstairs so decided to ask about my car’s aircon problem.

My car air con is not cold on hot days, but is quite cold on mornings and during night. During hot days, staying outside is cooler than staying in my car.

After some checking, the workshop boss said no problem with my compressors and hose, gas a bit less, so he said he will need to open the dashboard to do the aircon service. I asked him how much? He said RM440. I was shocked!

After thinking for few mins, I was thinking I hadn’t serviced the aircon since I bought the car, which is more than 3 years ago…. So OK la I told the boss.
The boss told me to come back tomorrow, since it was a Sunday and getting late. He would drive me to my office while my car is at the workshop, and when the car is done they will drive the car to my office. Sounds reasonable I thought to myself. I also asked him about the car battery, he is selling wet battery at RM148. GP brand. For Century, is RM158. My original car battery is Yokohama and I never replaced it since 3 years + 2 months ago, and it’s getting weak.

Later at night, I called my bf to ask him. He said it’s expensive and that I should ask more shops to compare prices. I agreed with him. So the next day I just went to office as usual.

During working, I was thinking where can I service my car aircon… I googled for it, and they were recommending going back to the Perodua’s air con supplier, Denso. I was thinking maybe going to Denso is not going to be cheap, but at least they know what they are doing and they are not going to over-charge me because their prices are fixed for all to see.

The nearest Denso is at Shah Alam. During lunch hour I went for it. Went to Federal Highway, exit at Subang Airport, turn left at Persiaran Kerjaya, made a u-turn after driving for few KMs, Denso was on my left. It was 1pm when I reach and they are closed for lunch. I waited in their office while having my sandwich for lunch. At around 1:30pm, there was a technician working at my car aircon. Later he told me everything OK, just need to do service including refilling the gas. I asked him no need to open dashboard? He said no need la, just open the drawer can already… So I just needed a normal air con service and the total bill was RM 221.50, which is so much cheaper than the earlier unknown car workshop who is most likely not sure on what they are doing.

While servicing, I asked the technician do they sell car battery? He said no, but he can get from his friends working nearby. I asked whether he can get for me and install it? He said OK… So I asked him about the price and he called his friends to check on the price. Later on he said outside brand car battery, is RM135. I was thinking that’s reasonable… So I asked how about Perodua’s Battery which is Yokohama? He said he couldn’t reach his friend. He will try later. Some time later, he came to me and said he can get Yokohama for RM115. I was happy to hear the news and instantly I told him I wanted to buy the Yokohama, since it cost around RM180 if I were to buy from Perodua Service Center.

I was happy about the deal because he installed the battery for free. The down side is I have to wait for him to pick up the battery from Perodua and he had to charge the battery there for 30 mins. So I left Denso at around 4 pm to get back to office! And finally my car aircon is cold under hot sun now.

Summary:
Denso Service Center, Persiaran Kerjaya, Shah Alam
Myvi aircon service: RM221.50 (Include gas refill)
Car Battery: RM115 (Wet type)

I am happy about this, just imagined if I went for the unknown car workshop, I would have spent RM440 + RM148 = 588, additional RM251.50. Shame on the dishonest car workshop owner!

Eyebrow Embroidery January 27, 2010

Finally I went to the salon to get my eye brow ‘embroided’. It’s a bit like tatoo, only that it isn’t permanent, and only lasts about 2 years.
Went to the salon last Saturday, it was located at Mid Valley Boulevard, the name of the shop is Joanna Beauty Academy. I asked for the price, and on the counter it was displayed RM430 for eye brow embroidery. I was really shocked! Expensive! The beautician said that if I signed up today she will give me RM380… But that was also expensive too! In the end I just said OK because I really have scarce eye brow.

So she helped to draw up my eye brow, I didn’t give any comments because I know nuts about makeup. After that the poking came. She used a blade with some black ink, and started to pierce at my eye brows. It wasn’t painful to begin with, but as she kept repeating the piercing, it was painful, especially on areas near to the nose, that was when my nose started to water and felt the urge to sneeze. After about 20 mins, the process was done and I looked at the mirror. The color was too dark and I wasn’t used to it so much. She told me the color will fade in a week and that I might need to come back for touch up. Touch up within 3 months is free. I will have to pay RM100 within 2 years and after 2 years I will have to pay RM200 for touch up.

I guess I am pretty happy with it, only because it’s better than having no eye brows at all!

Hep B Jab 2 December 24, 2009

Decemeber, soon it will be the New Year 2010 December 7, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — dimsy @ 12:31 pm

December is here, and it signals the end of a not-a-good-year for me, I guess this is a good time to think about the pass year and to plan for the new year that is 2010.

I guess year 2009 is a not-so-good-but-it-could-be-worse year for me.

Work: No bonus, no increment, instead I got ESOS, 59,000 shares at a price of 0.14. I used up RM8260 from my not-yet-mature FD. I sold 10,000 shares at the price of 0.365, and got back around RM3620. I still have 49,000 shares left, and haven’t decided when I would sell those off. I am now sitting at 6th floor, after a few times of moving around. Work-wise, I won’t say I am getting bored, because I always challenge myself to do things differently, and I am more involved in the Sales and Operation process, instead of just plain boring coding.

Family: My dad just passed away recently, and when he was having cancer, my life was a roller-coaster ride, but I guess the dust has settled now, he wasn’t a good dad, my parents were separated when I was around 9 years old, he moved out, and we weren’t really close at all. Now that both of my parents have passed away, it’s like a closing of a chapter in my life. I am now closer to my second brother, during my father’s wake, I asked my second brother why did our parents fight? And he answered “Insubordination.” Oh that made sense…Dad was a control freak, and mom just couldn’t stand it anymore. My oldest brother is still a pain in the ass, and he is one of the reason why I am moving out of my house now. He is like 50% of my dad, he won’t talk to us in a friendly way, like we are not worthy of his time, and when he does talk to us, it’s always awkward.

Band/Music/Clarinet: After moving from Rakan Muda Complex @Bukit Kiara, I found another place at MAC Hall, OUG. Sadly the turnout is not very good and frankly speaking I am a bit jaded and disappointed. I have paid RM200 for the monthly rental up till now, and I really don’t plan to pay again. Now we have stopped the practices until mid January, and I think if they don’t think of a way to pay the monthly fee, I am not going to let them use the hall anymore. Attendance is bad, money is nil, I don’t know why am I still hanging on?
The good thing is, after hearing Mei Kee’s idea, I have formed a Clarinet Ensemble team and have got ourselves our first public performance at IOI Mall on 12,13,19,20 dec. I am really really nervous about it because I can’t coordinate the members well, I am quite worried about it because I am afraid that the performance will not be good. I will just have to tell myself to try my best and do not show my worry face in front of the members, Ms Foo was right that if I am worry, they will feel it and will start to worry also. Just have fun!

New condo: Due to my late father’s instruction, I was forced to buy a house to move out as soon as possible, so in a hurry I bought a condo for RM130k, luckily for me it’s under market value. Just painted a new coat and waiting for floor polish to finish this coming Tuesday. Used up around RM20k for renovation and furniture + appliances. And I can’t wait to move in, my plan is to rent out the 2 rooms to cover my expenses, hope everything runs smoothly…

It was a sad day for my family when my father pass away at UM Hospital, on 18 Nov 2009, at 1:51pm, Wednesday. He was diagnosed with liver cancer more than 4 months ago, it was already terminal cancer.

He was cremated on  20 Nov 2009, Friday morning at Cheras Crematorium. The next day we sent him off to his resting place at Xiao En Yuan, or Nilai Memorial Park.

My mom pass away on 1 October 2004, due to stroke. Her resting place is at Guang Dong Yi Shan, or Kwong Tong Cemetery at Jln Dewan Bahasa.

My dad was a very organized and systematic person, highly reliable and tedious. Good at organising and planning.

He was 72 years old, mom was 59 years old back in year 2004.

Thank you all well-wishers…

Another visit to Dr Prepa, house reno November 22, 2009

Right after I got my Hep B jab on 13 Nov, I had an appointment with Dr Prepa on the following Monday, 16 Nov.

Last Thursday I faxed my appointment card to ING and requested a letter of Guarantee. ING had to request Letter of Assesement from UMSC before they can issue me.

The following Monday, I printed out my Letter of Guarantee, and left my office at lunch break. I went to my condo first to check on the renovation and to bring lunch to my BF. It was pretty hectic in the condo. Imagine 3 teams of contractors working in my 910 sq ft apartment. They were Bok and team who did the ceiling fans + lighting + water heater, Mazlan and gang who did the windows and the guys who did the kitchen cabinets. The toilet bi-folding doors were installed last Saturday, if I remember correctly, they were too many of them…

I just stayed for 30 mins and off I went to see Dr Prepa at UMSC.

As normal I registered myself and waited for my turn. Dr Prepa seemed pleased to see me, other patients were curious about that. Dr Prepa told me many patients have they sinuses worsen due to the raining season now. He checked on my nose and told me they were white color and that it has gone back to the previous state before I had any medication on sinus. I told  him about my hep B jabs, and he offered me MC for that day, and the next day too! Yeah for Dr Prepa!!!  I also asked for a better ear drop, because Sodium Bicarbonate can’t remove my ear wax. Dr Prepa responded, “Sodium Bicar is useless!!”. But he couldn’t give me a better ear drop because that’s what the pharmacy had for ear drops. He was thinking about writing me a prescription so that I could get it from pharmacy outside. But he changed his mind and decided to use his canggih/sophisticated microscope to check my ears. And he used a mini vacum to suck out my ear wax too! Double Yeah for Dr Prepa!! Now I won’t have block ears anymore for awhile! Yipee! I thank Dr Prepa and went home, but not before setting the next appointment on  28 Dec 2009, to coincide with my next hep B jab, so that he could offer me MC,haha… Well not that I can take advantage of it because my Hep B jab is set on  18 Dec, well maybe I can if I delay my Hep B jab until 25 Dec, which is a PH… Damn!!! Oh well… Maybe I should give Dr Prepa a nice Christmas present, but will he accept it?

Sick after my Hep B vaccination November 21, 2009

After I renew my car insurance on 13 Nov 2009, I have to hurry back to my condo, coz there will be a bunch of guys coming over to renovate. Luckily my bf came to town that day, and my Windows Specialist Guy, Mazlan picked him up from the highway on the way to come to my condo.

When I arrive at the condo, they have already started work. And I think I started to have some sneezes…

The next day, my nose just went crazy, it was stuffy and sensitive the whole day, and I had sore throats too. It must be the side effects from the vaccine, gosh hope it will heal quickly…

My bf decided to stay until Monday, since there are other contractors coming to my condo to do renovation, thanks to him! I don’t think I can manage it myself.
